Hello summer!

Summertime means festival time. And events under the open sky. These include literature and theatre festivals such as Stoffel im Park, the Sommerwerft on the Main, and open-air cinema on rooftop terraces and former industrial sites. DJ sets await at Secret Garden at the Liebieghaus, while Jazz Montez brings unique jazz vibes to the Osthafen. A special highlight? The Museumsuferfest on the banks of the Main from 28 to 30 August 2026.

Half-timbered houses and skyline
Half-timbered houses in Frankfurt? Yes, indeed. The Höchst district is part of the German Half-Timbered House Road. Cycle along the Main and take the ferry across, or travel just 15 minutes by train. The journey to Höchst is short and takes you to a different side of Frankfurt. Trebur, Dreieich, Hanau Steinheim and Seligenstadt are four more half-timbered towns close to Frankfurt.

Darmstadt Wine Festival

Where the Mathildenhöhe Artists’ Colony stands today, wine was grown for centuries. Darmstadt in southern Hesse is now an internationally renowned centre for science and art. Yet since at least the Middle Ages, it was surrounded by vineyards. The festival celebrates this tradition. For a whole weekend, winegrowers from four wine regions serve their finest wines from 3 to 6 September 2026.

Seligenstadt

As if time had stood still: in Seligenstadt, you will find a unique ensemble of Benedictine abbey, basilica and Baroque garden. Almost exactly as it was rebuilt in the second half of the 17th century. Add to that a charming old town, shaped by half-timbered façades from past centuries and part of the German Half-Timbered House Road.
