Val di Non

The wide and sunny mountain valley in Trentino

Val di Non is an alpine valley located in the most northern part of Trentino. It is the most populated valley of the Trentino province and it stretches from the apple fields in the south of the valley all the way up to the mountain chains and passes that quickly lead to the towns of Bolzano and Merano. Val di Non differs from the traditional narrow alpine valley being surprisingly wide open. This conformation offers a range of amazing views on 360°: the Dolomiti di Brenta mountain group, the majestic peaks of the Maddalene Mountains, the canyons and rocky cliffs, the numerous castles, the S. Giustina Lake surrounded by hectares of apple trees laid out in harmonic patterns that witness the ancient bound between man and nature.
Guests can enjoy colourful views and landscapes all year round, and a wide range of activities and experiences that change with the seasons!

Insider Tips

Castels

Val di Non has one of the highest concentration of castles in Europe and it’s also called the 'valley of castles' with its network of ancient manors: Castel Thun, Castel Valer, Castel Nanno, Castel Coredo and Castel Belasi are open for taking a dip into the past.

Lake and canyon

In the centre of the valley is the large artificial lake of Santa Giustina, surrounded by green apple orchards and vineyards. From here you can kayak into spectacular canyons, carved over time by water streams, which can also be visited on foot.

Taste

Val di Non is a generous land with produce that tastefully enriches the kitchens of homes and the dining tables of restaurants. These certainly include the juicy Melinda apples and the indigenous wine par excellence, Groppello wine.

Outdoor activities

There are many routes to take on foot or by bicycle, at high altitude for the more experienced or more peaceful and level for those who want to walk through meadows, woods and mountain hamlets. In winter, the valley offers numerous snow trekking routes to try with snowshoes on your feet.
