Travel programm

  1. 1

    1

Transfer from your hotel in Singapore to Singapore-Woodlands station where you board the Eastern & Oriental Express. Make yourself comfortable in your air-conditioned compartment and marvel at the passing Malaysian landscape, enjoy the afternoon tea served in your cabin. Later, you will be served a delicious four-course-dinner in one of the luxurious dining cars. At the end of the day, relax with a drink in the bar car or retire to your compartment, which has been transformed into a cosy bedroom.

  2. 2

    2

At breakfast, you can admire the rice fields and traditional villages of western Malaysia from the comfort of your cabin. After lunch, you may choose from three excursion options: relaxation on a pristine Langkawi beach with car and boat transfers, wellness activities (yoga, sound bath, massage), swimming, and a cruise through the Kilim Geoforest Park; or an active exploration of the Perlis Geopark with a cycling tour through wild landscapes and a visit to a former tin mine; or a cultural immersion in Perlis with a batik workshop, a visit to a private antique collection, and the preparation of tea in a traditional Malaysian coffee shop. Return to the train at the end of the day for a delicious four‑course dinner followed by a lively evening in the piano bar. Tonight, the train stables in Butterworth.
  3. 3

    3

Enjoy breakfast, before alighting for the crossing to Penang Island, Malaysia’s cultural melting pot. Here, you have a choice of excursions curated by local experts: an artistic discovery of George Town’s old quarter from the back seat of a Vespa with a guide, including visits to local artists’ studios; or a culinary experience featuring a market immersion, a ride up Penang Hill for magnificent panoramic views and a cooking class in the beautiful Art Deco–inspired Eythrope Bungalow; or a flexible, independent exploration of George Town in a trishaw with driver and map, allowing you to wander freely among shops, cafés and cultural highlights. Return to the train in Butterworth for lunch and a relaxing afternoon on board. Perhaps you’ll indulge in a treatment inspired by Asian traditions in the refined setting of the Dior Spa. Later, you may choose to step off in Ipoh for a stroll through this charming colonial city, known for its mining‑era architecture. In the evening, a festive dinner and entertainment await you before your final night on board. Shortly after dinner, you may glimpse Kuala Lumpur as the train passes through. It continues travelling through the night.

  4. 4

    4

Enjoy breakfast in your cabin or in the dining car as you travel through the southernmost state of Johor, known for its beaches and rainforest. Soon after, the train crosses the strait to Singapore, where you disembark with your magical memories.
